Parents’ duties are to
maintain their children so they would not be fall to crime or delinquency,
especially when they have reach puberty. If their children have reach puberty,
which mean they have already teenagers. Puberty or adolescence is the time when
the teenagers often rebels. This means parents should be more protective to
their children. If the parents neglect their teen kids, no doubt that teenager
delinquency will happen.
Parenting style can
determine a teenager delinquency such as:
1. 1. "permissive" parenting, characterized by a lack of
consequence-based discipline and encompassing two subtypes known as:
Ø
"neglectful" parenting, characterized by a lack of
monitoring and thus of knowledge of the child's activities, and;
2. 2. "authoritarian" parenting, characterized by harsh
discipline and refusal to justify discipline on any basis other than
"because I said so"
There are so many kinds
of teenager delinquencies, such as: theft/larceny, vandalism, alcohol offenses,
disorderly conduct, simple assault, school disciplinary offense, traffic
violations, murder case, underage sex, smoking, bullying. These delinquencies
could possibly happen if the parents do not guide and guard their children
properly.
The most common
juvenile delinquency that often be done by the teenagers are alcohol and drug
offense, smoking, bullying and underage sex. These delinquencies could happen
if the teens’ parent neglected to them. For example, there is a family that
includes two parents (mother & father) and a son that is a teenager. The
parents are always working, sometimes for their work they have to go abroad,
and they leave their son and can’t take care or watch him. Because of the
parents’ business, this obviously make the son thinks that his parents don’t
love him anymore. Cause the parents can’t take care of him, their son could do
anything even juvenile delinquencies. He could smoke, use drugs, drink alcohol,
and not to mention underage sex. Why would he do it? Because his parents won’t
notice and get mad. The kid can do anything he wants until he got in to a
prison for doing a criminal way. When his parents know about this, they got mad
and blame their son but actually, they are the ones that should be blamed
because of their disability to watch and take a good care of their son.
